A new chapter

Choosing a Different Future for Their Family

After over two decades in the construction tool industry, Scott was ready for a change. His career had brought him success, but it also meant frequent travel and time away from home.

“I realized I could definitely be a lot happier.”
— Scott Collins

As their children grew older, Scott and Haley began imagining a different future for their family. Business ownership offered the opportunity to stay close to home while building something meaningful of their own, together.

The franchise decision

Finding the Right Franchise

Scott and Haley looked into several franchise opportunities before discovering DreamMaker. None of the other franchises they had explored were quite what they were looking for. They wanted a franchise where they could build a relationship with the franchisor.

DreamMaker was different.

They remember thinking, “We need to find a reason why DreamMaker is not a good fit. And we couldn’t do it!”

Scott and Haley were drawn to the combination of proven systems, coaching, and an established franchise network without feeling as though they were giving up control of their own business. DreamMaker gave them the support they needed while trusting them to lead locally.

“With DreamMaker, we actually feel like we’re running our own business with help and partnership versus being told what to do every day.”

That distinction became especially important as they transitioned into an unfamiliar side of the remodeling industry. They wanted guidance and experience they could lean on, not necessarily someone making every decision for them.

“If you’re somebody who likes partnerships and not a big brother, DreamMaker is the place to come,” the Collins advise.

Working side by side

Working together has been one of the greatest rewards they have experienced. Instead of Scott having to be on the road for the majority of the year, they now get to build something meaningful together every day.

A homeowner-first approach

More Than Kitchens and Bathrooms

For Scott and Haley, remodeling isn’t just about the updated finishes.

“It really isn’t just about the tile or the cabinets,” they explained. “What we care about is how you’re going to experience this new kitchen.”
— Scott and Haley Collins

That philosophy came to life with a client who had lived with the same kitchen for 30 years. After recently losing her husband, she was ready for the space—and her life—to enter a new chapter.

“This kitchen was me 30 years ago, and I’m ready to move into the future,” she told them.

Scott and Haley make a point to think beyond the renovation itself to what the new kitchen could mean for their client, whether that is time with grandchildren, family gatherings, or memories that haven’t happened yet.

“With DreamMaker, we actually feel like we’re running our own business with help and partnership versus being told what to do every day.”
Growing with purpose

A Business Built Around People

This sentiment captures what Scott and Haley want their DreamMaker business to accomplish. They aren’t just trying to become the largest remodeling company in Lake Norman, NC; they want to intentionally grow their business while remaining involved in their community and focusing on the experience they provide to each individual homeowner.

“We take the chaos out of construction.”
— Scott and Haley Collins

For Scott and Haley, that means creating beautiful spaces, but it also means enhancing lives through building relationships, serving their community, and creating a business they are proud to build together.
