A Family Journey Into Remodeling: Scott and Haley Collins Build a Business with Purpose
For Scott and Haley Collins, becoming DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen franchise owners was an opportunity to build something together — something aligned with family, service, and a goal to make a meaningful difference in their community.
After more than two decades in the construction tool industry, Scott was ready for a new chapter — one that could keep him closer to home while allowing the Collins family to build something meaningful of their own.
Building Something Meaningful Together
Scott's career had brought him success, but it also meant frequent travel and time away from home.
“I was leaving a pretty lucrative career. We’re never going to replace it, but I could definitely be a lot happier.”
— Scott Collins
As their children grew older, Scott and Haley began imagining a different future for their family. Business ownership offered the opportunity to stay closer to home while building something meaningful together.
They Were Looking for Partnership — Not Just a Brand Name
Scott and Haley explored several franchise opportunities before discovering DreamMaker. None of the other franchises they considered felt quite right. They wanted a franchise where they could build a genuine relationship with the franchisor.
DreamMaker was different.
They remember thinking, “We need to find a reason why DreamMaker is not a good fit. And we couldn’t do it!”
Scott and Haley were drawn to the combination of proven systems, coaching, and training along with an established franchise network — without feeling as though they were giving up control of their own business.
Proven Systems
Structure and proven processes gave Scott and Haley a framework they could rely on as they entered a new side of the remodeling industry.
Coaching & Support
They wanted access to guidance and experience when they needed it — without someone making every business decision for them.
Local Ownership
DreamMaker gave them support and partnership while still trusting Scott and Haley to lead their business locally.
“With DreamMaker, we actually feel like we’re running our own business with help and partnership versus being told what to do every day.”
— Scott Collins
That distinction became especially important as they transitioned into an unfamiliar side of the remodeling industry. They wanted guidance and experience they could lean on — not necessarily someone making every decision for them.
As the Collinses put it, “If you’re somebody who likes partnerships and not a big brother, DreamMaker is the place to come.”
Two Different Strengths. One Shared Business.
Today, Scott and Haley have created a process that works for them. Together, they combine operational expertise with creative vision, guiding homeowners from the first design conversation through the final walkthrough.
Scott oversees production, trade partners, permitting, and the day-to-day operational side of the business.
Haley leads sales and design while helping shape the overall experience each homeowner has throughout the remodeling process.
Working together has become one of the greatest rewards of the journey. Instead of Scott spending much of the year on the road, they now get to build something meaningful together every day.
Their experience reflects one of the central advantages of the DreamMaker model: owners can draw on systems, coaching, and peer support while developing a locally owned business that reflects their own strengths and leadership.
Remodeling the Space Is Only Part of the Story
For Scott and Haley, remodeling isn't simply about updated finishes.
“It really isn’t just about the tile or the cabinets. What we care about is how you’re going to experience this new kitchen.”
— Scott and Haley Collins
That philosophy came to life with a client who had lived with the same kitchen for 30 years. After recently losing her husband, she was ready for the space — and her life — to enter a new chapter.
Scott and Haley make a point to think beyond the renovation itself to what the new kitchen could mean for their client — whether that means time with grandchildren, family gatherings, or memories that haven't happened yet.
“We want them to feel excited not just for the next week, but for the next 10 years down the road,” Haley said.
That sentiment captures what Scott and Haley want their DreamMaker business to accomplish. They aren't simply trying to become the largest remodeling company in Lake Norman. They want to grow intentionally while remaining involved in their community and staying focused on the experience they provide to each homeowner.
“We take the chaos out of construction.”
For Scott and Haley, that means creating beautiful spaces while enhancing lives through relationships, community involvement, and a business they are proud to build together.
