Honoring Our Veterans: Leadership, Service, and the DreamMaker Way

This Veterans Day, we honor and thank all who have served our country, especially the veterans within our DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen franchise family. Their dedication, discipline, and servant leadership continue to inspire us and strengthen our community.

At DreamMaker, we’re proud to have several franchise owners who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces and now continue their mission of service by helping homeowners transform their spaces with excellence and integrity. We extend our deepest gratitude to our veteran franchisees:

Jeff & Ruth Vargo – DreamMaker of The Woodlands, TX

"veteran friendly franchise"

Jeff is a graduate of West Point Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management. He is a veteran of the United States Army and has served in several locations, including Tennessee, Iraq, and Hawaii.

Ruth Vargo is also a graduate of West Point with a degree in Chemistry and Science. She served in the United States Army from 2005 to 2010, with her final post as a Medical Operations Officer for the 125th Infantry Division.

After transitioning out of the Army, Jeff and Ruth settled in The Woodlands, Texas, where they are raising their three children — Tripp, Emma, and Luke.

“Jeff and I decided to do something new. We felt God calling us to go in a different direction, so we took a leap of faith. We started our own DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen in The Woodlands.” — Ruth Vargo

Jeremy proudly served in the Air Force from 2001 to 2006, serving in posts from Washington, D.C. to Kirkland Air Force Base in New Mexico. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy with a bachelor’s degree in Math and Operations Research, Jeremy went on to earn a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University and a PhD in Finance from the University of Texas.

While Jeremy has many impressive accomplishments, he considers his greatest achievement to be his family. The Page family recently had their Grand Opening in their new DreamMaker Design Center, and are looking forward to serving their community.

David is a U.S. Army Veteran and DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen owner in South Charlotte, NC. His journey began in Colombia, where he faced tragedy at a young age before emigrating to the U.S. When he was old enough, he enlisted in the Army to give back to the country that had given him so much.

David and his wife, Bibiana, transitioned into civilian life with a 15-year career in banking and later found themselves drawn to DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen’s strong values and structured support.

Tom Lowery – DreamMaker of Greater Yavapai, AZ

Tom and Lisa were drawn to DreamMaker’s Code of Values and are excited to return home to Arizona, where they will soon open a new DreamMaker franchise in the Prescott, AZ area.

Michael Pinkerton – DreamMaker of Colorado Springs

Michael is a veteran of the United States Navy and served on submarines. One reason Michael was drawn to DreamMaker is the aspect of giving back to the community. Michael stated “A large part of my family have retired from the military. We here at DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen respect our military and all that they have sacrificed for our country. One of our goals, that we have accomplished many times, is to work directly with the VA to help disabled vets acquire help in paying for their remodeling needs.”

Nate Coombs - DreamMaker of Ogden, UT

Nate served in the Air Force from 2004 to 2007 as an Officer and Missile Combat Crew Member. Nate shared, “When I was in the military, I really enjoyed being part of an organization that had a lot of structure and systems in place. So, upon finding DreamMaker and seeing the systems for the remodeling process, it was a very attractive opportunity because I enjoy construction — and it allowed me to use my skills learned in the military and bring them to the business.”

The journeys of these veterans from military service to business ownership reflect the same values that drive DreamMaker — respect, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. Many of the skills developed through military service like leadership, adaptability, teamwork, and attention to detail translate seamlessly into entrepreneurship and have helped our veteran owners thrive.

Our President, Doug Dwyer, comes from a legacy of veteran support. His father, Don Dwyer, served in the U.S. Army and founded VetFran, an organization created to help veterans returning from the Gulf War transition to the civilian economy through franchising. Today, Doug continues that mission as the incoming Chair of VetFran, ensuring DreamMaker remains a strong advocate for veterans seeking meaningful new careers, and DreamMaker continues to offer veterans a 20% discount on the franchise fee.

With a long history of supporting veterans, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen is honored to partner with those who continue to lead and serve in new ways. Our systems, values-driven culture, and supportive network make DreamMaker a powerful franchise for veterans seeking a purposeful second career built on faith, service, and community.

To all who have served — we thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and leadership.
